Our Best of the Valais walking itinerary offers you the chance to enjoy the very best walking that the Valais region of Switzerland has to offer, at a flexible pace. This two-centre trip starts off in Zermatt, the quintessential Swiss mountain town, and then heads to Saas-Fee - just a short train ride away - a little quieter, but surrounded by no less spectacular mountains.

Chamonix attracts adventurers and walkers from all over the world as the perfect base for outdoor activities. Our Multi-Centre walking itinerary offers you the chance to enjoy the very best walking in the Chamonix area, at whatever pace you prefer, making use of the extensive cable car and public transport network of the valley.

Your first stay on the Highlights of the Dolomites is in the town of Cortina, a busy centre of outdoor activities, but also a fantastic place to sample local restaurants or perhaps just wander the streets with an ice cream. From here take the bus to Passo Falzarego, and walk up to the stunning Cinque Torri. After Cortina, your second base is Canazei, a quieter mountain town where you can start the classic hiking circuit around the mighty Sassolungo massif.

The Bernese Oberland hosts some of the very best of the Alps in general and is as quintessential Switzerland as it gets. In the bustling town of Grindelwald, wake up to the views of Alpine pastures, in the shadow of the famous Eiger and Jungfrau, the sound of cowbells in the distance. After Grindelwald, you will hop on the train to Mürren, a car-free village perched high on the side of the dreamy Lauterbrunnen valley.

Hidden away in a quiet corner of Switzerland, the beautiful Engadin valley is a paradise for lovers of nature and gentle walks. Here you’ll find Switzerland's only National Park, where nature abounds, alongside traditional Engadin villages, sparkling lakes and high peaks. Based first in the trendy town of St Moritz, head up to the Fuorcla Surlej, one of the great Alpine viewpoints. Next is Zernez, a well located Engadin village, on the edge of the Swiss National Park.

Scenically situated on the Italian coastline, Cinque Terre National Park is a region perfect for exploring on foot. Five fishing villages cling to this steep, rugged coastline, overlooking the blue Mediterranean waters, the houses painted in bright colours. Rather than roads, the villages of this UNESCO World Heritage Site are connected by ancient, narrow pathways cut into the hillside, winding through terraced olive groves and vineyards.

This two-centre trip connects two spectacular, yet very different Swiss mountain areas, the Engadin and the Valais, via the Glacier Express. The “slowest express train in the world” is an experience in itself, allowing you to soak in stunning Alpine vistas from your comfortable window seat.
